UGC extends deadline for accreditation to June 1

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has extended the deadline for all the higher education institutions to get themselves accredited by June 1, 2014.

The UGC in its recently issued notice has mentioned that higher education institutions and universities across the country should get apply for accreditation from an accrediting agency before June1, 2014, if they are desirous of getting development funds from academic year 2015-16 onwards.

as per the UGC funding would be given to only those institutions which have undergone the assessment and accreditation process as prescribed.

Universities failing to do so will not funds from the commission from 2015 fiscal.

The UGC regulation makes it mandatory for the higher education institutions to go for compulsorily accreditation from either National Assessment and Accreditation council (NAAC) or National Board of Accreditation (NBA), to be eligible for UGC grants. ...
